Canmore Rocky Mountain 1/2 Marathon

I took today’s training run today and ran a half marathon. My running partner was going to be in Canmore running the half and I decided to join him so I didn’t have to run alone. And I’m glad I did. We just wanted to do a long slow distance, but I pulled off a PB time for my half. So I was pretty excited. And I still feel great. So I didn’t over do it. And there was free beer at the finish. What else could be better?!

The scenery in Canmore was beautiful and what a way to see it. At the base of the Rockies! It was pretty cold this morning but we all warmed up nicely.

Back to reality next weekend with a 20 miler for distance.

Hills, Hills and… oh yah, more HILLS!

I didn’t think the hill workout could get any tougher than the hill repeats we did last Wednesday. WOW! Is all I can say to that one. My running partner has all his hill workouts mapped out in his head. I asked tonight how he found them and he said “just running around.” Did I mention that he’s 59 and I’m 34. He kicks my ass every run and he’s qualified for Boston in 2009. So, needless to say, I’ve got a great running partner that keeps me moving and motivated. So, if there’s anyone out there struggling with the training, I highly recommend a running partner. Makes all the difference.
I had no idea there are so many “killer hills” in Calgary. Learn something new everyday.
I’m going to run the Canmore Rocky Mountain 1/2 marathon on Sunday. Using it as a training run.
